The Indian Railways’ ambitious Green Corridor Project, which aims to electrify and solar-power over 1,000 km of key freight routes, has entered its final phase. The corridor stretches from Gujarat’s Pipavav Port to Delhi, passing through Rajasthan and Haryana. The entire system will operate on solar and wind-backed power grids, with over 60% energy needs met from renewables. This is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 2 million tons annually. The final phase includes battery storage stations and solar panel-covered platforms. Officials estimate the corridor will be operational by April 2026, making it a benchmark for other Asian nations.
