Indian navy tests autonomous underwater glider

The Indian Navy, in collaboration with IIT Madras, has successfully tested a long-range autonomous underwater glider in the Bay of Bengal. The glider, named Jalraaj, is designed to stay submerged for over 60 days and can gather oceanographic data, detect submarine movements, and map seabed contours. It operates on a low-energy AI system and communicates via satellite when surfacing. The Navy plans to use a fleet of these gliders for strategic surveillance and marine research across the Indian Ocean Region.
