India has joined the Global AI Weather Modeling Alliance, a group of 12 nations collaborating on building the world’s most accurate AI-based weather forecasting models. The Indian Meteorological Department will share data from its Doppler radars and satellites. The models aim to predict localised events like flash floods and hailstorms with 3x more precision than traditional systems. India’s participation will help improve monsoon predictions and cyclone path estimations, benefiting farmers and disaster response agencies.
